How every figure is sourced
AnnualReports.co.bw turns published annual reports into structured, comparable information. The reports remain the authority: each figure on the platform points back to the report, financial year and page it came from.
Collect
We obtain annual reports that organisations have published publicly, record where each was retrieved from and when, and fingerprint the file so duplicates are never processed twice.
Read
Each page is read in order with its page number. Text and tables are extracted with open-source tools; scanned or table-heavy pages are read visually. Nothing is summarised at this stage.
Extract
Figures are mapped to standard metrics. Different labels such as “Turnover” or “Rental income” are recorded exactly as printed, along with scale (thousands, millions), currency, consolidated or standalone basis, and restatements.
Verify
A reviewer checks every headline figure against the source page before it is published, then verifies, corrects or rejects it. Every decision is kept in an audit trail.
Publish
Only verified figures from published reports appear on the platform. Trends and comparisons are calculated from those figures, not generated.
Answers to questions
Questions about numbers are answered directly from verified figures. Questions about strategy or performance draw only on passages from the reports themselves and cite their pages. If the reports don’t establish an answer, we say so.
Financial years and comparability
A financial year is labelled by the calendar year in which it ends, so FY2024 for a March year-end is 1 April 2023 to 31 March 2024. Organisations are compared only where figures are on a comparable basis, and differences in year-end are shown.
Restatements
When a later report restates a prior-year figure, both are kept. The platform shows the most recent published figure and marks it as restated.
Corrections
If you believe a figure is wrong, email corrections@annualreports.co.bw with the report and page. Corrections are reviewed against the source document and logged.
